AUDITIONS

auditions for the 2024/25 season are september 10 and 17 from 5-8pm

High Rendition Jazz is seeking experienced high school musicians for the following instruments:


Sax | Trumpet | Trombone | Bass | Guitar | Piano | Drums | Vocals

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Piano, Guitar, Bass, Trumpet, Saxophone, Trombone

  • Your choice of two major or minor scales
  • Short classical study or etude (optional)
  • Play a jazz standard or melody 
  • Improvise on a jazz standard (optional) 
  • Sight reading (optional-to be provided)

Percussion/Drums

  • Short snare drum etude (optional)
  • Play swing, bossa, mambo and samba (various tempos)
  • Play brushes in a swing style
  • Sight reading (optional-to be provided)

What is the time commitment for HRJ?

Practices

  • Full band practices are every Tuesday from 7-9pm at QEPCC
  • Sectionals are before practices from 6-7pm on a rotating basis

Retreat

  • A weekend retreat with Jules and the full band in the fall (time permitting)

Concerts

  • Concerts are held throughout the season at various venues
  • See Performances tab for prior year events
